Mission
Jazz on the Square’s mission is to promote and preserve America’s original musical art form, jazz music, in all its diverse forms and colorful history. We believe jazz music is unique and relevant. It influences all art forms and brings to life vital social and cultural issues. We are dedicated to connecting today’s jazz musicians and educators to people who truly enjoy and find jazz a wonderful extension of the human spirit.
History
Jazz enthusiasts Robert Honesty, Judith Honesty, Randy Robinson, Erin Denk and Billy Denk founded Jazz on the Square in 2007. The initial offering was weekly jam sessions at Pirro’s Restaurante in Woodstock. The first annual Woodstock Jazz Festival was held August 22-24, 2008. On September 11, 2008, Jazz on the Square began hosting the Jazz Jam Series at Stage Left Café in Woodstock.
